Dr. Gerardo Vitiello graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor's degree in Nutritional Sciences. After Cornell, he enrolled at Emory University School of Medicine where he earned his medical degree in Medicine and Surgery. He completed a General Surgery Residency at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York, NY as well as a 2-year research fellowship in immunology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. After residency, he completed a 2-year clinical fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
As a former NCAA Division I athlete, Dr. Gerardo Vitiello embraces a team-based approach to cancer care. For each of his patients, he strives to assemble a multidisciplinary team of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists, interventional radiologists, pathologists, nutritionists and rehabilitation doctors in order to obtain a personalized cancer treatment plan and the best possible outcome.
Dr. Gerardo Vitiello specializes in treating cancers of the liver, bile duct, gallbladder, pancreas, stomach, as well as melanoma and gastrointestinal stromal tumor. He is an active member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), and the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA).
